Mă descriu ca
I am a genuine mad scientist/ technologist. All areas of science interest me, but I do also have an artistic creative side, which I express mostly in music making. When I write computer programs, I am aware that am using my artistic as well as my logical attributes. I am self-employed in electronics and computing, developing novel instrumentation for creating musical sounds and transforming the human singing voice. In due course I hope to apply all this in my own music-making, while developing some commercial applications. I have a background in medical and psychiatric research, some of which I got out of for ethical reasons. I worked for a PhD in sleep research, and at one time I did run my own sleep lab. I am looking for a woman with an interest in science, but she can be arty too; with her own kind of creative bent of some kind; with a good heart and a healthy libido, a playful side, and the ability to be frivolous as well as serious. All in all, I would like her to be deeply curious, and very open-minded. Good communication is very important to me, so I would seek someone with whom I could communicate very well on many levels. A pretty unconventional person on the inside, although outwardly not unusual, I would describe myself as an imaginative free thinker. Sometimes I DO think six impossible things before breakfast :) Not too good on a lot of 'popular culture' -a lot of it bores me to death. I am a football illiterate. I regard television as a potentially dreadful time waster, unless used selectively. At the moment I don't have a TV licence. When visited by an inspector, he mused and said “I am sure you are genuine”, when he saw all my books. Having said that, I do enjoy a good film, and collect videos, from car boot sales mostly. I just don't want an endless stream of mindless crap TV monopolising my household. I enjoy learning foreign languages. I know German very well, can get by in French and Spanish, and have done some Russian. I feel learning other languages helps you see everything in a new way, and widens one's human understanding, as well as the great pleasure of being able to talk to people from other countries and cultures. On the social side of my life, I help in the running of a social club, Manchester IVC ( Intervarsity Club – see www.manchesterivc.org.uk ). If asked what I think about the meaning of human existence, I would argue the case that we should see ourselves as 'lesser gods', rather than upgraded apes. Generally I do not like reductionism, and think that science can on occasions seriously mislead us as badly as religious dogma can. I am very interested in the paranormal – everything on the fringes of our understanding. P.S. I have indicated that I don't smoke. This is now true, and also not: I am trying hard to get used to electronic cigarettes. These are relatively harmless and inoffensive.
